In older bikes if you used regular oil and then switched to Syn then it may leak...i use full syn since 1000 miles on my 07 and no issues in 40k miles. Do a search though you may find some answers. Use the search icon up there.

The reason back then was that syn oil did not have the additives to help keep the seals swelled and soft.That changed in the 70's.
