Default Which Rack for 2012 Road King Classic

My tag is above the tail light and I don't want to move it. I want to add a luggage rack so I can tie on some touring bags. Don't want the tour pak, I would only use it when going on a long run. But a nice rack I could use everyday I ride.

I like this one: King Detachable 2-Up Luggage Rack-50300054

http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...le-two-up-rack

but I'm not sure if it will fit with the tag in it's current location.

Any of yall know?

Thanks

I have this model and regret it. The extra wide rack interferes with the RKC bags opening fully and staying open. I thought the extra width would be nice but its not worth it or maybe not necessary to tie down a bag.

If you were closer I would let you borrow it and try it out.

Maybe take a look at the Stealth rack by HD. Motherwell also makes a nice one, but I think it's only adaptable for a solo seat....

What makes you think it won't fit with your tag in the stock location? The fitment guide says it will work. I would suggest you get the 4-point dock with passenger back rest and luggage rack and you can load up all kinds of crap. I have the standard rack because I like the size of it.

Not many choices with the license plate where it is. Moving it requires you to change the tail light too (since it aims up). When I added mine in 2011, this was about the only choice (I like the looks of the Stealth but it won't work)--http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/detachable-two-up-rack-pa-01-5421509--1

That rack clears the standard location of the plate. I have since moved my plate but not because of the rack.

My plate is already moved here but you can see the King rack goes pretty wide.

Thanks all for the insight....I see yalls point about not opening the bags all the way, I put the hinge stops on anyway to keep the top of the bags from getting chewed up by the docking hardware.....

Still wondering why Harley doesn't design these bags like the hard bags that open out.

But I love the look.

Thanks for the photo Ben, after seeing your photo I think it will fit great!

Going to pull the trigger tomorrow.

This is the same setup I have for my RKC too, except my plate is in the stock location. It works great!
