Not sure, but I know it has something to do with the fender support so you may want to look into that first. With the new frame design on the '09 models this "bar" went away.

Default Forever

Forever or just for a while? lol, for the life if me I can't remember the company but I know there is someone out there that makes a bracket to remove it forever. as a matter of fact a guy is giving me one this week, if the wife doesn't want it for her SG, you can have it. PM me and remind me

Default removal

If you just want to remove for a short time, take the bags off, take the chrome covers off over the bolts, then remove the 4 bolts that hold it on, pretty simple once you take the chrome fascia off and look at it

That bar can be cut but the bracket that bar attaches to has to be there it mounts the fender and the fender struts together. I have done this to many bikes:

Remove your strut covers. Then there are 2 bolts on each side. Don't ride without installing the brackets first. Bad Dad makes brackets too. You can find them on their website.

What Hog Doc said and here's what you'll end up with. I had mine done in a custom blue led light.... NOT illegal if facing rearward here.

It just bolts on. Pull your bags and unbolt it. I cut the loop off mine and used a set of tips I purchased from Paul Yaffe to finish off the holes.

Cut the loop off or use one of the products made for it like the ones mentioned or Auto Gem Shotgun lights. DO NOT just remove it.

Thanks for the pics and info guys. My friend wants to cut it and cap it. I want to remove it to get it powder coated. After seeing the cut look it's clean looking on the rear.
