Default Battery life in the Key Fob

Anyone know the average life of the battery in the newer style key fobs. Was in the Garage tonight and after I finished re-installing the ignition switch went to make sure the bike would start. The alarm started to flash, got the other Fob and still would not start...The only way to start the bike was to bypass the security with the turn signal combination.

Just seems strange that both Fobs would die at the exact same time. Will try a new battery tomorrow.

Wondering if anyone else has had this, or is there the possibility that the system somehow got reset and does not recognize the Fob's anymore?

Only work done recently was Cruise installed by the Dealer, and I just put in a homemade Garage door setup in the lower fairing cap and I unplugged the wires in the lower cap to get it off. Never had an issue before with that.

Bought my 08 the end of Mar 08 and one fob died in Dec 08. Changed batteries in both and have been good for over a year now.

Had mine going on three years and still going strong. I think the book says to replace them every year. I doubt that both would give out at the same time.

I think you did something when working on the bike. Try pulling the main fuse and re-inserting it.

Same here....Pretty much 2 years. Check the battery voltage. It's a 3v battery to start, so if it's much lower than that, replace it. CR2032 battery if I remember right.

I am guessing it is the batteries, Bike is an 07 and I haven't had to change them yet. With the wx the bike had been sitting on the Battery tender and the roads have not been good enough to ride.

If the Batteries don't work, guess I will have to have them reprogrammed.

I changed both mine at two years. They were both working , but they are cheap and easy to change. Battery # 2032
