I have definitely rode to the shop without the bags for the same reason...even left the side panels at home once, But I prefer to ride my nagger (wifey) nekkid

Long story as to WHY but I rode home and then back to the Dealer again with only the left bag removed. Talk about some strange looks I was getting... LOL!

My bike will be nekkid on Saturday when I run it to the dealer to get some work done for the same reason you mention, don't have to worry about scratches. Bike will be there for a couple of weeks and the longer it sits or gets moved while it is there the greater the risk of scratches.

I remove my saddlebags before going to the shop. I think of it as a courtesy for the wrench and insurance against an accidental scratch for me.

I take the bags off when going for a tire change. It's the one thing that I don't do myself. Pain in the *** IMHO. And I wish there was an indy shop around here that was so damn cheap.

I would ABSOLUTELY pay 35 bucks to have the wheel removed, tire mounted and reinstalled! That's a great price IMHO! Hope my dealer comes CLOSE to that when I need rubber!
And Great idea leaving the bags home,, I probably would never have thought of it, 'till I found a scratch on one after service!

Anyone else do this?

Please spare me the "I do all my own wrenchin'" speech guys.

For a measly $35 bucks my indy will pull the wheel, change the rubber and re-install, all in the time it takes me to walk down the block for lunch.

I've been doing my own fluid changes but this price vs. the labor to do it myself is more than worth it for me.
There are few things I cant/wont do myself and tires is one of em.
Bags ALWAYS stay in the garage when she goes in the shop along with my mustang solo & backrest.

Thank God there are no pictures with this thread. It would be worthless WITH pictures. LOL

I'd let the indy do it for that price too.
