Default Need advise on replacing rear brake pads

I am attempting to replace the rear brake pads on my 07 FLHTC. There are 2 E-10 torx head bolts that are recessed into the brake caliper that will not allow my torx socket to fit into. I thought I would be smart and so I took the socket to work and had .0040 shaved off to allow the socket to fit down into the recessed area to get a grip on the torx head bolt but, it wasn't enough so I still can't get them out. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do..? Thanks

Use a 12 point box end wrench.

1/4" twelve point socket. I use one from a 1/4" drive set so that it's thin enough to fit in the recess.

here's a good link to show you a tool list and how to service your brakes.

Welcome to the club of DIYers who thought those were Torx. Harley sets you up with Torx all over the place whether they're needed or not and then throws something like that at you.

Thanks for the help. I would have never thought about using a 12 pt 1/4 in socket.... Why do those H-D engineers do things like that...?

It's for our own good! You *know* you should let the "professionals" service your motorcycle!....
