Default Does K&N add more HP

Are their claims true that K&N air filters add 10-12 HP or is it BS.

If you add pipes and a h/f air filter you do pick up some HP & Torque....That's a proven (on dyno's) fact....

Unfortunately most of the gain starts building after 3000+ RPM

No it is not true, this statement would only be correct if the current air filter was costing you 10-12 HP. The air filter only, not the apparatus that is bolted to the TB or carb.

I've found most hp gains advertised by vendors are highly exagerated. I have a Ness Big Sucker stage 1. I didn't get a 19% hp gain as advertisd. It took pipes, (without cat) a/c and pcv to get a 13% gain. Which I don't feel is a bad gain.

It will give ya about a half horse with the bike not being able to exhale ,change the pipes and you should notice a change but then you gotta tuner it. The bright side is you'll never need to buy one fror that bike again.
