Default Touring bikes and no "tourers"?

Just curious.....

How many of us have Touring machines, but never use the passenger seat?

I'm one of them.

Very lonely out there.

My wife is usually with me and I really enjoy it. We are going and seeing all kinds of stuff.

I've used mine for solo to and from work, and weekends I can't keep my wife off it. She's even wanted me to go to the grocrey store and take her on the bike. I have to say no to that one. I don't even like taken the car to walmart. Them crowds are not what I want to leave the bike parked in.

As for my other bikes in the past, they were touring bikes as well, but not H-D's. The wife wouldn't have a thing to do with them. If I wanted to ride anything but solo on them I'd have to pick up a street walker!

We have a 2003 EG and the wife has probably been on the back for 15K of the 24K on the bike. This includes an 8 day ride over the "Top of the World" through Canada and back to Anchorage last year. It rained 7 out of 8 days on the trip so I figured this would dampen her desires. Boy was I wrong, she must love it 'cause she now has her own bike and we've "made the loop" up to Fairbanks and around back to Anchorage this summer. So it looks like the back seat might stay empty most of the time!

I have a 93 FLHS (became the Road King in 94). It has the factory two up seat, and the wife has been on it once in two months. Complained about no backrest, and no passenger grab bars. So...I have the grab bars on order as we speak. NOW, my dilemma. I want a back rest for ME also.....do I spend the money on a back rest for her , worryin that she may not ride much, or do I buy one for me, and take the chance the she may have ridden more, had I bought one for her?

I rarely have a passenger on my RoadGlide. Use the detachable sissy bar/backrest/luggage rack primarily for my stuff while touring. Some of the gals I've dated don't care to ride....some like to ride around for short trips. But I know why a lot of guys tow trailers! It is dang hard to carry all two people require on a tour bike, even if you have a tour pak.

If she rides with you, you'll have a backrest

I rarely ride solo. My wife comes with me on every ride. All I have to do is pull the bike out to clean it and she comes running out with her helmet yelling, "where we goin?" Kinda cute. Doesn't ride a bike herself, just loves to ride on the back of the EG. The factory seat and backrest/tour pack is very comfortable she tells me.

I have a reason for the ultra, I have 11 grand children and two adopted kids 10 and 11.

Just came in from the sunday "rides" all have grins, (set up for future riders)

The wife used to ride with me years and two kids ago (26 years)

We were comming home one evening fron Globe Department Store (when they were going
out of business) and as we approched Airline Dr. off the feeder there was a deisel spill, Well
We went down so fast it was like a dream, I had one leg over the bike and one Knee on the pavement,
as I was sliding I turned to see where my wife was and she was sliding on her bottom across the intersection
still clutching the bag from the store.

We got up, I had scraped my knee up prety good, she was OK just here pride was hurt. and she split here pants
open fron one ankle to the other one. (Kinda funny)

Picked up the bike both of us got on and went home... She hasn't rode again...

Funny thing though, this corner is ALWAYS VERY BUSY, but that night it was as if time stood still, and NO cars were on the road.

Never ride two up. Been thinking about getting a solo seat but I strap a bag on the pillion seat on trips. Just as soon keep doing it this way.
