Default EG Standard Speaker Mounts

Hopefully I can explain this properly. I have a Standard and I am putting a stereo in it. It is still in storage and I am unable to get into the fairing for a while yet. I am getting the pieces together for the stereo and I'm wondering if the Standard fairing comes with the speaker mounts or I have to purchase those seperately. Thanks for your help.

The fairing on my 09 has mounting holes for (I think) 5.25" speakers. I went with 6.5" speakers and had to manufacture my own speaker mounts out of 1/4" plywood. I'm sure you could buy mounting plates for whatever size speaker you want.

If you are going with the 5 1/4 speakers I have my old mounts for shipping $.
I also found mounts for 6 1/2 speakers on ebay for $39.

The standard comes with 2 flat plastics plates to hold the grills in. The speaker mounts are thicker on one end to angle the speaker toward you. You will need to get some speaker mounts. Did the same thing on my 2008. All the wiring is there.

I never bought any mounts for my FLHT. I just installed them right to the fairing. I don't recall having to buy anything to install either.

What you are asking about are speaker adapters (in Harleyspeak) and I've read numerous threads that say they're included on FLHT's. I have a police model EG and they are not included with the FLHTPI.

Since you are not in a rush, send Dawg a PM with the year of your bike; he'll be able to check HD's parts book to confirm they're there or not.

If you want to mount speakers larger than the HD OEM size 5.25" speakers, you'll need to buy aftermarket adapters that replace the OEM adapters.

EG Standard Speaker Mounts-speakerview.jpgmine didn't need any brackets. actually installed 6.5 speakers but just had to fab some spacers to install the speakers because of the tweeter on the speaker. i run infinity and they are great. I also ran speakers in my lower fairing.
