Unhappy Looking for Sympathy

Had surgery last Monday and am now in recovery mode. Doc says no heavy lifting for 6 weeks - that means no bike riding for 6 weeks. So all I can do is go out to the garage and look and dream about getting back on the road. The weather is turning real nice which makes it even more difficult to not get back in the saddle. Luckly, I got out a few times last week when the salt was washed off the roads and the temp got to more than 40*.

Default been there!

Had two herniated disks in my back and had surgery last spring. Six weeks to wait for surgery, six weeks of recovery, 8 weeks of physical therapy. Hated all of it. Good luck with your recovery.

Okay then; sorry about your long recovery period from the successful surgery you just had. Now, do what your doctor told you to do and you will still have a full summer of riding.

Spend the time planning rides that you want to take when you are ready. With the extra time you can look up places to stop along the way.

Take your time coming back! I went back to work too early after my accident in 2008 and wish that I had listened to my manager & doctor (both told me to take the additional 6 weeks of medical leave, but 10 weeks was enough to drive me nuts).

Now go relax, research where your next $$ is going to be spent on the scoot!

I can feel your pain. I am deployed to Iraq and cannot ride till I get back home. I have been in Iraq since June 09. Good News I’ll be home in May.

I ruptured a disc that paralyzed my lower right leg a year ago in May and had fusion surgery in August. 4 plates and 8 lag bolts and I was told not to lift more than 6 lbs for six months and I went through pt for 3 months. I am starting to feel pretty good now and have regained a lot of control in my right leg and foot so I am hoping to ride again as soon as I get the bike back together. I decided to make some use of the down time for some projects on my Street Glide. Dr. says I probably have as much as I am going to get as far as being able to lift my right foot. I have what they refer to as drop foot from the pinched nerve. I have a considerable limp but as long as I can ride again I can live with it.

C'mon man it ain't that big a deal! Back in '79 I busted my arm and couldn't ride till the cast came off. They did surgery on me and when my bud picked me up to go home, we first went directly to a different hospital. There we visited another bud who just had his foot amputated. Guess how much sympathy I got. The best part of the deal is they made me go to therapy when the cast came off. They wouldn't release me to go back to work for almost three months. I rode all over hell, was hanging with my buds, and taking girls riding after therapy every day. Guess how much sympathy I got then. They didn't tell me I couldn't ride and I sure never asked.
