Electra Glide Standard vs. Street Glide

What are the big differences between the Electra Glide Standard and the Street Glide? I have been looking for a different bike and it seems that I can pick up an Electra Glide a lot cheaper than a Street Glide. Why is that?

It is called demand......Street Glides very popular bike. The Electra Glide is the best bang for the $$$.

Black engine vs gray and stereo vs no stereo....that's all I remember. I am sure there are some more and the SG guys will chime in soon.

The silver motor and no stereo was the EGC standard, not a street glide.

Same chassis and bat-wing fairing. Street Glide will have a sportier look and feel with a lower profile rear, due to a 1" shorter shock. The Standard will probably ride a little nicer due to the rear shocks and a cushier seat. Neither will have a TourPak from the factory, but may be installed easily enough. What model years are you looking at and comparing? Following are links to the 2007, 2008 and 2009 models. 2009 introduced a new chassis for both models, but was also the last year for the Standard.

I'm not looking at any particular year, it just seems that I can get a used Ultra for about the same price as a used Street Glide and the Classic and Standard are below the price of a SG (same years).

Well, introducing an Ultra into the picture changes things even more, towards the luxury side, due to a lot more standard equipment. An Ultra would be more biased towards two-up riding, at least as originally equipped from the factory. If your finding that an Ultra is less expensive then a SG, wait until you add up the accessories to make that SG more like an Ultra. But then, most that buy a SG don't want the look or feel of an Ultra... just depends on what you want to ride. Also, it's a lot easier to set up the Standard or SG with a Tour-Pak using the quick-detachable rack, where it's a hassle to take an Ultra and try to strip it down with the detachables.

Yeah, I'm not really interested in an Ultra, I was just using it as a price comparison.
