Default 2007, Odd Year?

Ok, I'm on the hunt for some winter and summer projects for 2007 Road King. It seems about 90% the parts I look for seem to skip 2007 as year for fitment. IE. 2008 - 2012 or 1999- 2006. Or they will list a 2007 RK Custom and not a 2007 RK Classic, and this is for something as simple as an air cleaner.

Has 2007 been black balled or are listings just messed up?

Usually I see 2007-2012 for most things. Seats will be 2008 and up, exhaust will be 2009 and up. Also tuners will be 2008 and up since they went to wireless throttles. Most engine and transmission parts will be 2007 and up. Also I see 2007-2008 for lots of various things.

'07-'08 were "transition" years. '07 got the 96" and 6 speed. '08 got the Brembo brakes and bigger tank. '09 up got the new frame. Just need to know what goes with what?

Most part from 1998 -2008 fit for frame, A/C, Wheels, Racks and body on touring bikes. Electronics and wiring are specific to 2007 only. 2007 bikes had the 6 speed with 96-103 engine available. I had a 2007 flht I sold that had over 60k miles with no problems.

The biggest hurdle for parts for an '07 is anything that relates to the frame, like the seat, detachable hardware, crash bars, etc. As time goes on HD will phase out parts for the older frame, like what happened with the 1996 model year because that was the last year for that frame type. I don't know why any '07 FLH-model AC wouldn't be the same part.

I have an 08 exhaust on my 1990 bike, so I don't think there can be any problems there. I believe that year may be the first with O2 sensors, but the shape is the same as previously.

07 is the lemon year....I have one and you do not want to get me started....back to your question...yes...there were so many changes from 07 to following years that a lot of parts and upgrades only work on an 07 if this or that. you mentioned some....the throttle control is different so the engine upgrade kits at the stage III level have different part numbers. The ECM is different in years after 07, so engine kits that include tuners have different part numbers.

To add cruise control is double the money as it fits 07 only, and already discontinued!!!!

Wish I would have bought 08 or newer
