I am in the same boat. I rode my Ultra for a year with stock seat.... and always felt a little unstable. I then purchased a Mustang seat that brought me forward and had a narrower girth, which helped considerably. I recently purchased rear lowering kit on Amazon.com that offers a 1" and 2" option. All I needed was the 1". Made a world of difference. Now not only am I flat footed with my riding boots on, but my knees are more bent, and definitely more stable..... I was concerned if I went to the 2" it might impede the clearance of the trailer hitch assembly..... lowering kit is under $100C
