RHINO LINER, to coat saddlebag lids?
 

as hard as we all try to avoid the boot heel from touching the saddlebag lid, i've dragged mine across the lid several times, and each time, i cuss and then get out the scratch and squirrel remover. i figure there is only so much clearcoat that can be rubbed out. this is when i figured, hmm, there's gotta be an alternative, as i really don't care for the vinyl covers that mustang and harley sell. that's when it dawned on me. the thought of rhino liner like used in truck beds, is incredibly durable, and if gotten with either a gloss or semi gloss finish, might just be the ticket. i want to do something that doesn't look dorky, but is extremely durable. give me input please, as i think it'd be a great solution.

I like that idea. Probably wouldn't look bad at all.

I've always thought the idea of a beater glide, with all painted surfaces coated in Rhino would be kinda cool.

I saw it on a Red denim bike. It wasnt over the entire lid. I thought it looked terrible. Just my .02

I saw a picture somewhere (maybe here) of a black or grey Glide done all in Rhino.

It certainly wasn't my cup of tea but to each his own. It might look good in person.

I am finding the boot smudges I leave are coming out very easily with a flash wax. Perhaps your boot soles are very hard or are you dragging a shoe lace eyelet? I've done that. That doesn't come out easily.

I have a 75 bronco that I rhino lined the tub in.. It starts out shiny with grains of sand in it essentially.. Eventually it fades and turns matte but IMO wouldn't look good on the lids. Linex or something that starts out matte would look better. WOuldn't have the 20grit sand paper feel to it either.

Wish I would have spent the money and had the tub sprayed with linex when I did it 10 years ago.

-EDIT: I was thinking about this on the way home knowing something I said wasn't right.. I used HERCULINER! Not Rhinoline.. So.. Don't use Herculiner :) It sucks. Get that stuff on your skin and it's NOT coming off for a while either.

They make protective sheets that you can apply right on your lid, they are clear and barely noticable. Personally I think that would be better than the Rhino
