Default 09 Roadking Classic with ABS handlebar change

I want to change handlebars to either reduced reach or heritage style. I read all over that it does not require changing anything else but the accesories book and the website indicate that at least the brake lines have to be changed. Whats going on?

Heritage style here, even swap with no new lines or cables.

Default 09 FLHRC and heritage bars

No changes needed. All cables and wires are long enough, but with one caveat. I seem to remember something specific about ABS changes. Mine doesn't have ABS

I just came from HD dealer.. I asked them what are things needed to change the standard handlebar of my 2009 Roadking Classic to 12" H-D FAT MINI APE??.. they said you must get the following:

- The Handlebar
- Diamondback EL clutch
- Diamondback B/L
- Diamondback B/L (different one and more expensive as well) !!
- Handlebar Cover, Ape, Chrome
- Wire Kit W/Cruise
- Sensor Kit
- Screw

OMG

don't you see it too much?

Here's mine, no extensions needed on any cables using Heritage bars.

Nice Bike

what I really want is to go backward by Min. 2" and up by 2" as well.. no more... i don't want it to be wider, by the way.. do I need to change all of these? and do you recommend the same handlebar on your bike?

cheers,

I had to change the brake line from the bars to the ABS unit on the right side of the bike when I got the Chubby 508 bars for my '09 RKC. The stock line was just an inch or so too short.

Default ABS no issue

Found great advice and tips in a thread here. Here is a link ( if I did it right). I have 09 FLHR with ABS. No cable changes. There is plenty of slack in the brake line, throttle, clutch.
Since I am still using stock grips I just bought a new one for the left side for around 6.00 rather than wrestle the current grip off the old bars.

What is dimensional difference between the stock bars and the heritage style on width, height, base width, and pull back. Can you snap a picture with the stock bars set up beside the heritage bars? Thanks, just curious how much difference there is. Wanting to see before I buy if possible. Thanks!!!
