Who is riding Touring Harley for the first time?

It goes beyond words because it’s not just a thing it’s an experience. It’s doing and feeling the same thing that he did and felt and knowing that it was something that was such a part of him. Thanks for the reply!

Weight
Hi Doug
I found the weight very intimidating at first. I was worried about getting stuck at the bottom of an incline and not having the strength to pull the bike out of trouble. I could have done with a reverse gear. My bike came without rear footboards and although I bought a new pair, I left them off to have more room for my legs when paddling about. Yes I'm only 5 feet six inches. I avoided having a topped up tank except when setting off on a long ride and put extra luggage in the panniers rather than the trunk.
But the most important thing above and beyond all was to not let myself be put off by weight and to ride it as much as I could for as long as I could. I found that putting away miles brought back confidence and built understanding of what a fantastic lovely thing a touring Harley is. I did more miles in the months I've had this Glide than I have in years.
Aim for the horizon and pull the trigger!

I have owned Honda ST1100, Kawasaki Nomad,Honda Goldwing, Kawasaki Vaquero, and Indian Scout. I now have 2017 Street Glide and it handles better at low speeds than any of the aforementioned bikes. I think the geometry of your 2011 may be pre-Rushmore and therefor not as easy. But your parking lot idea is a good idea.
