Default First time touring bike

Bought a 2002 Road King about 6 months ago.
It’s nice bike in good shape. Only put about 1200 miles on it so far though.

Default Who is riding Touring Harley for the first time?

2015 FLHTKL with Vance & Hines large radius ground pounders - Bought about 45 days ago with 3k. Now put 1700 miles on it, PA weather just broke.

First ride was 1k total 500 miles in rain with golf bag across passenger seat we had trip planned in mid May. The forecast was an east coast week long monsoon, i wasn't missing my chance to ride her so off I went to Pine Hurst. Met my buddies in Va and decided to drive there cages to NC.

Positives - Discovered I loved the beautiful smooth ride, enjoyed the tour pack space, cruz, and the dashboard amenities also experienced the anti locks work great. Great bike.

Little disappointing why nots - Light in the tour pack (standard com on), GPS mount on the upper part of dash board (yes like the RG), has got to be more space on fairing for another glove & glasses holder when fueling ( like across from blue tooth). I parked it in my buddies garage upon return in four days there was rust on the inner hex front break mount bolts (galvanized or stainless please).

Said I would never buy a Harley until they water cooled.. lol . honestly glad they did it Love the bike and the brand brother/sisterhood. I respect the marketing & engineering folks

I went from riding mini bikes as a kid to an 2005 Electra Glide, my wife [bless her] rode on the back for a year and then wanted her own bike, so her first bike is a 2008 Dyna Fat Bob with a SE103, she now has about 30,000 kms on it, and My bike i have put about 60,000k on mine.

Ride safe

Ultra

I switched from Kawasaki ZX12R, then to Harley Sportster, then to Street Glide. It sure is a heavy bike but got used to it in 2 weeks, my friends call my bike a rolling couch....LOL! Very comfortable is what they say but I don't feel that when I first got it, then I swap out my suspension all the way around with Legend and now it rides a lot better, especially on the long rides.

I am still planning to get a Breakout for local riding or BMW R1000SS as my 2nd bike.

Angry New Touring and first time Harley Owner

Bought my first harley 5 months ago, 2017 Ultra Limited. Love the bike!.
Very Disaapointed in my first Service 5k done at Memphis Dealer.
Called got a price for 180.00 then when i arrived they wanted to change all three. Said they don’t recommend H-D intervals as published in owners manaul. Wanted 450. I told them no and wanted the 5k service as recommended by H-D then he wanted 380.00? Then when I said why he dropped it to 240.00 for syn3 new oil filter and hour labor to check everything.
they did not check my primary, did not clean grills, I have oil dripping from front and rear of bike 10 minutes after 5 mile ride home. The receipt shows 240.00 for 4.5 qts oil and filter and o ring. No documentation of what they checked or if they adjusted belt. Very very disappointed. Long winded way to ask if this service receipt is going to cause me to lose warranty for not haveing the 5k service done correctly? Thanks my first post and just joined forum sorry for long winded first one.

bought my first Touring bike last month, 2015 Electra Glide Limited. it is heavy, starting to get used to it. I wish I knew there was issues with saddle bags falling off them. had the right side fall off last week. Now looking for a replacement. Dark Jade Pearl / Vivid Black seems to be a unique color. Love the color, love the ride. Now if I could just make her look beautiful again, on the right side. She goes from a 10 on the Left side, to several six packs later on the right side.
