I got my endorsement fall of 2014 and all I knew was I wanted a Harley. One of the instructors said “no matter what you buy, you still have to learn the bike, and pay sales tax every time you change”. I knew that eventually we’d be riding two up, so that factored in big time. I’d never ridden more that a trail bike when I was a kid. Ended up with a 14 FLHX and put 25k on it in 3.5 years. We just bought a16 CVO Street Glide last fall with 6800 miles. I love it! No regrets whatsoever going right into the touring class. Wife loves it too!

Picked up my 17 Road King Special as my first ever bike , never ridden before. Had a friend pick it up from the dealer and I took the MSF class. Eveybody says to get a small bike to learn but I had no issues learning on this beast . I just took it easy and stayed within my limits .

I have had several Harleys in the past, but never a tourer. I traded a BMW R1150RT touring in on a 2014 FLHTK a couple months ago and I love it. The overall weight took some adjustment I do have to say. The BMW was much more of a sport tourer and was quite easy to throw around and far easier to maneuver in the garage. With a little bit of practice and a few Jerry Palladino videos, the technique involved with riding this half-ton beast kinda just came to me. Now I am learning to flick it around with the best of them.
