Default European License Plate Bracket

Anybody fab'd or know of a combo I can make to place this ungodly/huge European license plate on my Ultra Limited? My local dealer had a E-G w/ what he said was a Road King kit that placed it underneath the tail light, but I have a light on the bottom of the rear fender and I don't think that will work. He wouldn't give me the p/n for it b/c there is no way in hell I'm gonna buy it from them (store policy...blah!!) Right now my plate is bent/curved in the normal plate area. Just hope the Carabinieri don't see me, and give me a ticket.

You don't say where you are, although I would guess Italy? There is no such thing as a 'European' plate, they differ throughout the many countries and in some at least are available in different shapes. It is not a trans-European problem!

How about a photo of the offending item and you looking around at other bikes (not just Harleys). If you are indeed in Italy they ride scooters and small bikes in profusion, so you should quickly get an idea of what other bikes' plates look like.

I would be interested to know what I have. I am in Naples, Italy, I should receive my UC next week. I am hoping it is tucked up under the tour pack so as to avoid the speed cameras... Where are you?

Lots of UC riders here just bend the sides and top of the plate to make it fit under the tourpack mount. On my Road King, I just drilled a coupla holes just above the stock holes so the bracket "lays down" at about a 45 degree angle. My luggage rack clears the plate now no problem. Not sure if this would work on an UC though.

(PS - the plates here are the size of a standard US auto plate)

Our bike plates down here are the same width as my FL motorcycle plate, but twice as tall. On my Honda Aero, I just drilled a bunch of holes, bent, and zip tied to make stay.

You going to Faaker See in September?

Just bend the plate as suggested. That is what I did with my EU plate. I had to bend it right about the middle of the plate. I have never had a problem with the Polizei (and I have been followed by a couple).

Originally; Baraboo, Wisconsin. After bumming around the world in the Army for 21 years, retired and stayed at Ft. Drum for a couple years. Now, I'm working as a civilian for the Army on Kleber Kaserne in K-town.

I've heard great things about Faaker See. Wish I could make it; but, just isn't doable this year. Going to at least try Ride the Alps if not in the states for vacation.
