I hate to admit it but yes, I bought one for my bagger with some extra chrome cash. I would not do it again. would've been better off buying a bunch of oil filters. the thing is pretty odd. trying to get a temp reading immediately after stopping is near impossible. It errors. If I wait at least 2 minutes then I can get a reading. I've never had anything like this so maybe that's normal but I sure don't like it all that much. If I stop to get gas and just want to check the temp or level I can't unless I'm willing to wait until it feels like it. When this thing does break my old stick is going back in.

what can I say, my credits were about to expire.

I have one of those too. Yes it does error out from time to time. You need to have the engine oil warmed up for it to read the level correctly. It will always give the oil temp without any problem.

Dead accurate, hot/cold, level/temp. Once you learn how it functions, it is a very usefull/quality addition. Great looking and very practial gauge.....highly recommend!

I'm going on my second one now. THe firstb stopped working after the second ride I went on after installing it. They gave me a new one and so far it is ok. Sometimes it wont tell you the oil level it just runs up and down the bar. The temp has always worked even with the error code my temp displays. I like knowing how hot or close to how hot the engine is.

I have had one for 6 months. Never an error once and it has worked well for me. I like having it.

I was in line to pay for something at the dealer and the guy in front of me was complaining about his not working correctly. The parts guy told him that it was functioning properly, and that the bike had to be warmed up to correctly read the oil level. Seems to me you would like to be able to read the oil level BEFORE warming up your bike.

Anyway, the parts guy said he would never buy one, it's a waste of money. Good enough for me.

Mine was a good choice. I can get a temp reading when getting off to gas up. I am suprised how hot it runs, 225-230 deg on a pleasant temps day. After fueling up the oil has settled enough to get a level reading with out removing a hot dipstick. No complaints...yet.

If you're buying it for your Ultra, a better choice would be to replace the "Ambient Air Temp" gauge (which is always 10 to 15 degrees off) with an Oil Temp Gauge and check your oil by pulling out a cold dip stick before you start riding. Sounds logical huh?

I thought someone must have replaced that useless air guage by now. Where did you get the oil temp guage and how do you hook it up. Sending unit?
