Default Fairing Bracket broke............

I have a vertical fairing bracket that is broken at the bend for the top tab.
What is the easiest, quickest way to fix it?
Weld it back together work well?

What are you all doing to fix this, other then replacing the bracket.

Here's another one using the same basic technique. This has worked on my bike for 18 months and even survived an accident last October.

Supposedly the new type replacement brackets are stronger and less prone to breakage. I bought a set in case my originals break.

IClick..............I like those ideas.

I had a horizontal one break last year, and I made a new one out of heavier gauge angle iron. Much more solid then the stock one, and is looking fine still today.

I'm going to make a new tab with that same angle iron, and weld it in place to the vertical bracket. Same idea as you did, only no bolts/nuts............I'll weld it.

I welded mine and and also welded it at the gap at the bottom where the tab is folded over.. H/D should have done that !.. been fine so far.

7 out of 10 bikes disassembled exibit those failures. The repairs posted here work well also. Most EG riders don't know they're riding around with the broken support(s) until they all break and the fairing is shaking more than usual. The MOCO knows this is a weak point, so they too, have re-engineered a better vertical and the smaller horizontal supports that won't break. But as usual, a little too late for most of us. If you replace with the new supports you're good to go.

Weld or replace either will work. A weak spot for sure on the touring models.

I was lucky , Mine broke under warranty. The replacement was much beefier. I tried to get them to replace the other side but they said they couldn't till it broke. I bought a new one and it's still in my saddlebag.
