Work I've been doing

Well,

I got all my stuff from mandmcycles about a week and a half a go. It included all stainless steel braided cables, chrome clamps, levers, and brackets, to include the brake reservoir.

We just started a training exercise here at work for the next units headed to Iraq, so I have not had the opportunity to dedicate to the bike that I would like. Last Saturday, I had a few hours before I had to go to work, and I said, "screw it", and started it.

Well, that project is still ongoing, as I never have more than an hour or two to do stuff. Tearing down the whole front end is not an easy task, and interestingly enough, it involves a lot of tearing down in places other than the front end.

To replace the clutch cable, I had to drop the exhaust to get off the clutch reservoir. Wow, that was an experience. I finally have the entire left side of the handlebar done, and I am about to start the right side. The right side obviously has the brakes, so I have to bleed, replace, fill, and then re-bleed the brakes. Should be interesting. I have learned a fair amount about the bike, how some of the components work, etc. Very interesting to adjust and set the clutch cable. Can't say enough about the HD manual.

I've bought a few new tools along the way, that's probably the best part, and I think tomorrow I will be down at Sears getting a decent tool chest. Kelly announced she is tired of my crap all over the place. (I am too, but I have to act disgusted or she'll think she's doing me a favor spending the money, and then when I want something else I'll hear, "you just got a new tool chest.")

Most useful tool you ask? That's easy, Torque Wrench, rubber mallet (getting the exhaust back together), and snap wring pliers (can't say enough about those).

Pics will come. I'm headed to the garage, I have about 4 hours before I have to go to work, and I have a four mile run still to do today.

Mac,

I told you that rubber mallet would come in handy with your exhaust. I see your shopping for some Rineharts in classifieds;). You will be so much happier with them.

Goodluck Mac!

After all they money spent on the bike Kelly is going to complain about a tool chest? Sounds like you're going to be busy for a while. Good luck! Can't wait to see pics.

Craig, I've really enjoyed it, though right now the throttle and idle cables are waxing my ass. I've got them installed (involved a partial removal of the fuel tank), but I can't figure out how to adjust them. I'm waiting on some feedback in the General Tech.
