I was able to pull mine off without messing them up. I cleaned them up with Goo Gone,then painted them gloss black and put them back on. I think they look pretty good myself.

How do you get the reflectors off without screwing up the paint or the hinge?

Heat gun and a plastic pry tool worked for me

I used a small pry tool and got kite string behind it. Sawed it back and forth and popped it off.
