Torn rotator cuff and handle Bars

Torn Rotator Cuff and Handle Bars:

1 1/2 yrs ago I had an accident where I tore all my soft tissue around my left shoulder, I had surgery for this and they reattached all the tendons and had to remove a portion of the bicep muscle.
All in all, I feel much better, but even after a year of therapy I am somewhat limited with my upward reach, hence my problem.
The RK I just bought has 12” bars on it and even though I have ridden short distances (few miles) everything seems to be OK but I can feel the strain start to begin with the arms up in that position.
Does anyone have issues like this and what did you do, did you go lower with the bars, which bars did you go with and how is it now?

Had rotater cuff surgery @ five years ago in my right shoulder, and slap tear surgery two years ago in my left. I just have the regular bars, but no real problems here. It gets better with time. When i finished my theoropy, because it wasn't really helping any more, using it regularly got my motion back. It will pass, but it will take time. I'd look at lowering the bars to a lot lower position.

You might want to try Heritage bars for the RK.

I wrecked my VRod I had a year ago and tore off some tenon attachments and broke the humerus bone near the ball joint. The stock bars on my new FLHX work fine for me, given that I still cannot reach much higher than straight out (getting a little more reach every day).

are all the different bars interchangable or do I need to be aware of specific bars for specific applications, my RK is a 1996 and there is NO air valve on the end of the bar.

Can a novice like myself change a set of bars, I just bought the FSM for it so I do have one just unsre about the wiring?

I severely dislocated my shoulder two years ago and I have the Heritage bars. They are tilted back just a bit, but they were good for riding because they were close enough and not too high.

Yes, you can change them yourself...I did and this was a huge help. The Heritage bars did not require and new cables or wiring.

Thanks for the link!

Since I have 12" bars on the bike at this time, will there be a problem with the extra length of cables and wires.....

Look at Wild 1 web site, I chose the 518's as I have bad shoulders, works great for me but they are low/low.

I've had two shoulder surgeries, one rotator cuff and the next was a shoulder replacement. Ape's seem to work the best for me in lessening the pain. Usually pain free for the first 200-300 miles.
