Default Front wheel bearing failure 2010

I took delivery of my Fire fighter special Ultra in March. and as of June I had just over 13,000 miles on it. Then the unthinkable happened. COMPLETE front wheel bearing failure. Sure its under warranty and was fixed for free but what if I had crashed? I contacted H.D. customer service and got the "OK this problem will be registered to your Vin number" and "no there are no recalls".
I have talked to several dealer Mechanics on the issue. THIS is a huge problem! I ended My conversation with "look Harley needs to seriously address this before someone gets killed!"
Its a design flaw, I'm not sure when the narrower bearing replaced the wider one used a few years ago but I think there just isn't enough surface area! No I don't use a pressure washer, and regardless of where or who makes the sealed bearing the Japanese bike have been using them for years with no problems.
Part# 9276.__ 2 used in the front and 4 in the rear wheel assembly.
PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG!!

When did (what model year) Harley change the the wheel bearings ??? I have heard of this problem back to 07 bikes. As I am planning a cross country trip. this is really starting to worry me. Is there a fix, upgrade that I can do BEFORE I have a problem ???

Thanks in advance for all thoughts Be Safe JIM

Does anyone have a cross to an American made bearing?

Have you filed a report here?

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

It would behoove you to do so, and every other person who has had an issue with the bearings as well.

Rode my new '09 Heratige Classic 18,300 miles in one year and 2 days before trading for limited, and had no problems w/wheel bearings. Anyone hear of wheel bearing problems in 2010 cruisers?

30,000 miles with no issue on my '08 EGC. Considering that we have 100,000+ members on the HDForums, I haven't seen very many complaints of bearing failures. I wonder how many bearing failures Ford has had?
