Any thought to just the flexibility of thicker and thinner or Harley Stock Thickness in relation to objects hitting the shield.
Say a you hit a 1 lb bird, thinner sheild would be more likly to flex or absord some of the hit then deflect it somewhat, then a thicker shield might crack, have less impact flexiblity?????
Just thinking outside the box, Im sure someone at Harley has shot objects at windshields just as they throw frozen turkey into jet engines.
Personally I would buy one that was the same thicknes as stock or maybe a little larger, fitness issue's would have me going elsewhere, as some have said, they are OCD, thats what we become with these Harleys, so I think fitness would be an issue for you.
I have a few of your shields now and the fit and finish is beautiful. Mount screws snug up perfectly and one of the first things I did when the first new one was one the bike, was check its rigidness both sitting still and at HWY speeds and you have done great with them. My .02 is that of some of the others here. Too thick means ya get crap inside the fairing on the batwing models and we don't want water in there with the factory stuff, let alone some of the aftermarket audio and other electronics. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Kris.
I have one of your 8 inch Ultra's and I think it is thick enough as it is. It was the first thing I noticed about it. Truth is, I am wondering if I am going to be able to add a windshield bag without creating a gap between the fairing halves.
I think you have a great quality product as it is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But you could add to it, how about adding optional custom graphics to the current line?

Got my bag on with the same shield you have, no problems.
I have one of your shield on my 09 Ultra. If it were much thicker it would increase the gap between the inner and outer faring. In my opinion this would allow even more exposure to the elements.
I just installed one of your shields. (9" ultra and love it). But with the thickness and a windshild bags my screw are not as long as I would like. I have added a chrome bar on the fairing and they provided chrome screws. I'm now thinking I need longer screws!!
