Default Help! Soft Lay Down with FLHP

Early this morning, I was backing my week old 2009 FLHP out of the garage for a 300 mile trip. To keep our dog away from peeing on the front tire, I surround the front tire with 3 two by ten's nailed together. For some reason, probably not completely awake, I got mixed up and the bike moved laterally to the left, I couldn't keep it up, and it gently layed down. I got it back up, somehow. Not a mark on the bike, except a very slight line on the back of the left mirror.

Anyway, I noticed immediately getting gas and then slowing in to the EZ Pass toll both that the bike was a bit unstable slowing down and seemed to want to pull to the right. The steadiness that was so cool on this bike seemed adrift. I'll head to the dealership on Monday, but, before I head back home for my return trip tomorrow, while I'm not worried as far as safety, I'd sure like to know that I haven't completely screwed my new bike up. It was fantastic at Interstate speed, it's only at low speeds where I notice the problem. I'm heading back tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for your input.

It's always at slow speeds do the big ones have issues as far as balance goes..always..

Almost dumped mine last summer(seems so long ago, summer)
but refused to acknowledge it and found some untapped strength in my left leg and didn't allow myself/and wife to fall over, but I was headed there, after going slow up a hill and then using my front brake which abruptly grabbed...
Good luck..

Your engine guard is the only thing gets all the weight on it and even dropping it hard shouldn't miss up anything that easy. May be you are leaning differently to investigate and that's leading to miss handle. Try using that no go spray on your tire to keep the dog away or do what I do kick dog's *** few times he will learn.

A few weeks ago, my son and I were taking a nice afternoon ride through the mountains. He had to stop for gas in an old mining town. I pulled through the lot and stopped. As I put my foot down, I slipped in the gravel parking lot. I fought that ElectraGlide for what seemed like an hour before it finally went over. My wife was on the back - never moved a muscle - she knew I was in trouble. The bike could not have gone down more gently and after righting it (I could not do that myself) I couldn't find a scratch. HOWEVER, for the next couple weeks, I SWORE the bike was out of alignment. It was not. The bike was fine - it was me that was out-of-sorts. I guess it shook my confidence for a while. I'm with the others. These bikes are tanks. It's probably you that's a little shaky. Good luck!

If you gently laid it down it should not have done anything. If it was in police service prior to you buying it and it went through any type of training course it would have been down much worse than that. So just keep riding it and enjoy.
