Road Glide windshield gasket

I've been to the dealer 3 times because the gasket falls down from the edge of the windshield. Their fix is some rtv silicone and this time they told me that is the best it is gonna get. $20K on a new bike and that's their fix, any suggestions on a permanent fix?

I don't know what their problem is. I've got a 2010 and the goop MoCo is using now is like sticky snot - not hardened. I'll admit that it's a pain to get the gasket to stay all the way up onto the shield though. It tries to walk it's own way back off while you're tightening the windshield screws.

However, if you work you way from the center screw outward toward the two ends, tightening each screw just a little bit more each time, and just keep pressing the gasket fully up into place as you go, then it seems to work okay.

Did for me anyway and twice too. Went from stock to KW 16" and now onto WV 14" (it's the keeper too).

Edit to add - BTW, do you know how to keep the well-nuts from falling off inside the fairing? ...or the easiest way to retreive one if it does? Shout out if you don't yet.

Thanks I will try that. Doesn't look like the dealer can do anything and I'm getting tired of taking it in anyway.

get the trim that covers it since greedy bastards didn't put it on standard

That's them. Has anyone saw a black one, all I can find in the moco book is the chrome one?

I think the black one's a new Kuri part. IIRC, the word is that they don't fit well but some folks have also said they fit "okay". Seems a lot like the gasket deal... may take a little "persuasion".

ETA - Paul Yaffe has a lighted one in black... http://www.baggernation.com/products-lights.htm

I ditched that gasket 2 years ago. Not a single problem running without it.

That is the best solution i have found. Plus i think it looks better without the rubber.

I tried that when my first started giving me problems, but air getting under the shield produced a horrible howl.

I ended up gluing the trim in place with the black RTV and taped the trim tight until it dried. It has been in place now for 30K+ miles.
