photo of SEPST mounted on touring bike?

unless something changed it does not stay on the bike, it gets plugged in and it flashes the ECM then it is removed and given to you to keep with the bike forever and always. If you go on long trips, you put it in your pack to take along in case of trouble as it will be the only way the dealer or anyone can communicate with the computer on the bike..if you sellthe bike you needto give it to the new owner.

Is there a 'fail safe' mode for the SEPST equiped ECM's?
Is there a way to return the 'tuned' ECM to stock?
My only experience is with a Power Commander...just asking.

Thanks for the info.
# 1 Son has a lean-out at mid-range RPM's and cannot get the SEPST to respond (won't recognize the program on the CD). I can install one of Jamie's 'custom' PC-III's if the ECM can be returned to 'stock'.

The module is married to the ECM, but the dealer can still communicate with (and reprogram) your ECM without your SEPST module. They don't even need it to load one of the canned maps that come with it (same ones they have for Stage 1 96, Stage 1 103, Stage 2 103, you also get the "not street legal" ones with it, too).
You need the module for a dyno tune, or to use the self-tuning feature. The marriage is one way, the module to that one ECM. The ECM can hook up with as many programmers as it wants to...
The TTS Master Tune (what the original SERT became) will let you save the installed map before flashing a new one, you can't edit it but you can save it (TTS can convert the save to an MT7 file, if you really crave editing the old map).
