Default FLHTCU drive belt adjustment

How hard is it to adjust the drive belt? I have the shop manual but have never done one with the cam adjusters.

It's easier, you only have to turn the axle, not fool with the bolts on each side. The big nut is tightern *****...Your 2010 needs adjusted already?

Not hard at all if you have a 36mm wrench, and the gauge.
I use the feel method, push the belt up with about 1" deflection with about as hard as you can push with 1 finger.

I have a little over 10K on the bike and I purchased it right after Christmas last year. I'm just lucky enough to live in a state where you can ride year around. I was out for a ride today and every time I gave it some gas their would be this squealing sound coming from the left rear side. When I got home I checked the belt and there is more than 3/8 play in the belt when it is on the jiffy stand so I thought I would adjust the belt and see if that takes care of the squeal.

If its not the belt I will take it to the dealer and they can fix it under warranty. Also, when I let off the throttle and coast the squeal is gone but when I give it gas and the rear wheel is under load the squeal returns.

Use bar soap on your belt. you rub it on dry. Stops the squeal. Or maybe belt dressing if you prefer.
I use soap, it works well!

Do the 2 belt adjuster cams move as one unit when you turn the weld nut, or do you have to wrench both sides?

I inspected my belt a Little closer this morning and everything is within spec. I took my air compressor a blew the belt and drive pulley off real good and used some bar soap on the outer edges of the belt. Took it for a ride and all the squealing is now gone even under hard acceleration.
