Muffler cleaning
While cleaning scoot I noticed some black specks on mufflers. Looks like bits of rubber, asphalt, road debris that is kicked up during riding an sticks to pipes. I tried several different types of metal polishes to remove. Will not come off without scraping. Any suggestions on a product that will remove the grime with less effort. I'm would rather ride than clean, plus I'm a lazy ba$tard.

Acetone works very well removing cooked on tar, asphalt etc, then use a HAPPICH SIMICHROME polish. Been there done that.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, (did I say do not?) use oven cleaner on any bike parts! Oven cleaners are caustic and will eat just about anything, especially chrome and rubber! I'm not sure who mentioned this, but I would caution against it.
To remove the black specs from the muff, use either Mothers chrome cleaning or Never Dull Wads! These are great on chrome parts and will also remove rust stains! They also help with minor scratches.
