Default main shaft bearing ????

Noticed a couple of weeks ago that when at idle in neutral with the clutch out sounds like a rough bearing type noise when I engage the clutch the noise will go away in 5 to 10 seconds. have also noticed alot more transmission noise in first and second slowing down even with the clutch engaged. What has me puzzled is that when i put into first gear from neutral its real quiet. Pulled the primary cover today looking for some metal debris but everything cean. Bike is a 2008 Ultra 18,000 miles oil changed all 3 holes every 5000 bought the bike used with 5100 miles and the dealer I bought it from didn't even suggest an extended warranty. Guess I'm screwed the factory warranty ran at in June of this year but thinking of calling the MOCO just to be hateful/ Sorry for the long post just venting. You would think a 2 year old low mile bike wouldn't have bearing problems. Mobile 1 vtwin primary and engine redline shockproof in tranny.

There was a bad batch of bearing races, I believe it is a covered repair TSB. I could be mistaken, as I said I THINK it's a TSB.
Be nice at first,it is deep beneath the clutch.

I got the same symptoms at 37k. Dealer replaced inner primary bearing. All's well for the last 8k.

That would be great if it is a TSB that means MOCO knows there is a problem. I am an assistant service manager in a Chevrolet dealership and if any GM vehicle is under 5 years or 60,000 miles I can just take care of the repairs without calling anyone. Maybe they will fix this bearing for me they are still making money from me having it financed with Harley Credit

Inner Primary Bearing - most likeley the bearing race walked in or out.
Be diplomatic with your dealer and they may repair it under warranty.
HD changed the race in 08.
My latest opinion on HD first year tech - they use the public for testing. Just saying.....

This is what GM used to do for many, many years. Its a major cause of their downfall and bankruptcy. I was a Chevrolet mechanic from 1979 to 1988 and the junk GM put out was astounding. The first couple years of the Citation alone should have shut GM down.
