Part of the compensating sprocket assembly broke

I was coming home from a local toy run last saturday, going 40 mph when the engine deid and it felt like the drive belt or something broke. I tried to restart the bike but the engine would not turn over. Had bike towed to dealer and found out that a peice of the compensating sprocket assembly broke and got caught in the primary chain. Lucky ( I hope ) I have the extented warranty plan. A adjuster with the warranty plan looked at the bike but made no comment if it would be covered or not. Has anyone had this happen ?

Do a search compensator, rock sounds, banging sound, happened to LOADS of 08 and 09 bikes!
