The 05's are very good bikes, imho. No oxygen sensor - easier to do intake and exhaust work. A few had bad valve seals and either were fixed under warranty or should have been. Take a look at the plugs - if one (or two) is/are really fouled, you may need valve seals. Should be a warranty job. Takes about 2 hours.
There was a recall on the bikes for the front motor mounts. They are replaced under warrantly. Seems that in the haste to make a better mount and get it into production, it was "too hard" and broke too quickly. Now they seem to have overcome that situation.
I also had a temperature sensor go out on the bike -- this "brain" adjusts the fuel/air mixture for the fuel injected bikes. When I was moving, the bike ran fine. But when stopped and the temperature went up, it kept feeding the engine too much gas and would flood the engine. Again, fixed under warranty.
I have 15K on the bike and no oil consumption whatsoever. Really like the bike!
Just check it out very good, lot of katria bikes showing up, a good place to dump one would be a place not acustomed to dealing with them. Some think if it was a flood bike or car it will have a branded title, but not always, those people who did not have flood or full coverage insurance will still have clean titles on their vehicles. I have seen many listed on ebay as being in katria but with clean titles, buyer beware!
