thank you all for your input on this topic. the leak issue is not a concern for me. I will be using the BDL Unit if i go with this. Wondering if the noise would end up getting to me after 5 to 6 hrs on the bike. thanks again from you all

Cool factor for a custom machine, yes! But for your traveling machine, no! It's like ridin' with your dick hangin' out.

Definitely cool looking, but to add to some of the cons already mentioned about an open primary, I remember reading somewhere ...

1) It can ruin your ride comfort by forcing your leg to splay out more than you may be accustomed to, and
2) More importantly, your crank run out should be spot on due to a belt's less forgiving wiggle room as opposed to a chain.

Even so, the idea of an open primary still appeals to me. I say go for it.
