It made almost 80tq at 2500rpm. It only made 60tq at 2500 rpm without the cams. That means that there was an increase in torque at typical "roll-on" rpm (2500) of over 30%.

I'm happy with that. When you consider that there is nothing really aggressive in my build (haven't touched pipes, cat or heads), I think they are decent numbers and a really good increase with the 254E cams.
Not trying to rain on your parade bro but I got 84.6hp & 103.8 tq and it's over 100 ft lb by 2800 w/ 255 cams. I think your tune is suspect because yours should be better than that. Maybe not much more torque but more hp for sure. If you like it how it is, you'd love it how it should be. How did you tune, with what? Worth looking into. As I found out, tune is everything with these builds. Good luck!

Yes the tune is everything but he also has the stock exhaust with a cat that is holding it back from making better numbers.

after seeing the sheets from my stock cam RH true dual set up compared to his 254e VH power dual set up and we both have 103.xx torque but he does have 94.8 hp compared to my 86.2 hp tuned by same shop i am not impressed by the 254e.

I agree that the cat header is a bar to max performance, but I don't believe it alone can account for the #'s differences. Of course I could be wrong, but I thought based on other accounts of the 254E cam, it was capable of better #'s. Perception is the tell though and if the rider is happy with his results then so be it. Looking again at his before and after #'s, I'm wondering about what gear the dyno runs were done in and are we looking at STD or SAE #'s. The before #'s look more like a stock 96" rather than the 103". Something just doesn't add up to me. My only desire is that my riding brother get everything he paid for and therefor deserves. We spend so much $$ on these beasts, it is a shame to not get everything we paid for. I have been down this road myself, and frankly, I am not done tuning either because someone on this forum pointed out to me something that in their experience just didn't seem right.

what kind of mpg are people getting with the 254's? I am a bit suprised by the low tq/hp they are producing in 103's. I have a set and i am just waiting on gaskets to come in so I can throw them in.

Guys I'm not saying that theres nothing wrong with the 254e's but the intake closing point is 43 where on a 204 it's 34.The 43 closing point will take more compression to make it come on where as the 204 will build more comp because of the intake closing thus createing more tq guicker. Also the TDC running lift is greater on the 204's than the 254e's. 204's 208/129. 254e's 94/102. Seems the 204 cam's are more advanced than the 254e's. You've seen the dyno's and the 204's and they have been usually better every time so why choose the 254e's? I'm just say'n.

because I never see a good used set come up for sale LOL. the 254 and the 204's were on my short list and it is rare that either come up for sale often. You see 255's all the time tho. I figure if I can get a good set of used cams for 1/2 price it is easy to swap them out so only have a little money and a couple of hours invested.

I had the 254e cams in me 11 FLHTK and they were strongly recommend by Doc and Wizzard and I'm glad I took their advice. The performance was great and my shop was wowed when they got the bike on trade and had a chance to ride it for a while. The 254e has become a new favorite there
