Default Tach Suggestions

I need to install a tach on my road king. I thought a lot about the combo tach/speedometer, but I thought that when I need to see my tach the last thing I want to do is to look down toward my tank.
I looked at the harley nacelle mounting, but it looks like it might eliminate the space for my windshield bag - does it? So that leaves the handle bar mount - but I'm not sure how that would look or would fit behind the windshield.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has experience installing a tach on their road king. What's worked best. Suggestions on tachs that read easy and are durable - etc.
Thanks

I have a speedo/tach on my 07 FLHRS and I use it every once in a while. I don't like to take my eyes off the road all that much, but I look down more times to check the six gear light then the speedometer or tachometer. Most of the time I ride by ear, and the gear that I am in, when it is clear I will look down at the speedo/tach to keep things legal.

I have the handle bar mounted tach on mine. It works great behind the windshield. I only have this one pic so far. In the morning I can take better pics.

It fits fine behind the windshield, but you can't put a bag on. I opted for the combo.
To the OP, if you decide to go handlebar mount, I have a brand, in the box, billet mount and chrome tach housing. Was waiting on the tach, and changed to the combo.

Just curious: why do you feel you need to install one?

I had some engine work done along with a different exhaust and I don't know how it should sound or feel when it I hit the peak of the torque curve. I think I shift too early and want to get the most from the build.

I opted for the combo unit and it works fine. Not to hard to see if you want to use it. After awhile you probably wont use it as much.

They have a tach on the police road kings, infront of handle bars I think. You can still have a windshield pouch. Look at a police bike and I would think yopu could order one like theirs.
