Default Screamin’ Eagle Tuner with “Smart-Tune”

obviously I do not understand so be gentle.

will the Screamin’ Eagle Pro Super Tuner (p/n 32109-08B) 'auto tune' a 2011 flhx103 with jackpots and a k&n (without needing to get a dyno tune)? while using the SCREAMIN’ EAGLE PRO SUPER TUNER “Smart-Tune” SOFTWARE (p/n 32111-11)

Sometimes I believe that many of the riders here are just a bit nuts about this dyno tune crap. I am no expert on tuning, but if you get a map close to what you have on your cycle the tuner will make accommodations. That is what they are for. After all, would you re-tune for altitude on a trip, or colder or warmer weather? No, you would not. Your tuner will take care of variations within reason.

All I would actually care about is that the cycle was running within proper gas:air ratios, not too lean. Who cares if you can tweak another horsepower or torque point or two better? For Christ sake these are big, touring cycles--not racetrack vehicles.

No its not a replacement for Dyno tune, its a good way to get your bike running good with little experience. The Smart Tune only analyses the VE tables and only changes these. This is quit accurate but the VE Tables are only look up tables used by the ECU to check and make sure the engine is running as predicted. When you dyno tune its like buying a handmade car verses a production one, if you have a good dyno tuner he is able to change the A/F ratio, Timing spark adavance, Idle warmup fuel enrichment, Closed loop bias table, Idle/Temp rpm, Throttle response, and a few other things to get the maximum performance out of the engine

i have the same sepst, and i'm very happy with it. you'll notice that you also got a "key" with it. it's in a small cardboard box likely in your saddlebag. this key isn't like a key at all, but rather a recording device that you can use to record information about your bikes real world riding environment. it allows you to download that information to a pc and tweak it to make any corrections. this is how it was explained to me. in the parts and accessories catalog, i believe it's in the screamin eagle section, there's a pretty good description of it, along with a cd or dvd and wires so you can plug it in to your home computer. i got mine dyno tuned as it was part of the build, but i'm sold on the sepst. i had the pcv and wasn't happy with it.

I agree with all you've said, but so what?

Good matched map to quality AFFORDABLE Dyno tune would add a very slight change if any if your bike feels "right." A top flight tune ($$$$) might add a wee bit more. If money is no object get a tune. Otherwise get a good seat or buy the wife something nice, imo

BTW, fireaxxe: I enjoy your posts and your pov! Not busting your chops.
