Default 20000 miles?

I've got 20,000 miles on my 09 streetglide and was wondering if that was to many miles to switch to synthetic in the motor?

Ha, i switched to Mobil 1 Vtwin synthetic at 900 miles on my 09 Ultra, now that I've got 19500 im going back to dino juice in the engine. Ill keep putting in redline heavy shockproof synthetic in the tranny.

Now don't jump on me (all you other posters), I'm just writing what I was told by my friend ___. He is one of the HD mechanics that travels the country over to maintain all the demo bikes - and of course, fix them. I told him my bike came with syn oil used by the previous owner. He says forget syn oil. No need. He's a Castor oil guy. Told me not to say where that info came from, but to switch back even if syn has been burned for the past 8k miles. Ok, let the jumping begin anyway...

I did mine at the 1,000 mile service. CVO's come with it from the factory, so I think 1st service is acceptable.

They used to change to syn at 1,000 miles. Now it may be down to 500. I think it's been well established that syn makes the engine run cooler and is a superior lubricant. It's never to late to change over to the best of my knowledge.

IT's your bike. Do what you would like. Alot more vehicles are coming from the factory with full syn. oil.

Syn anytime you want, just as long as its not time for a rebuild (which is cant be in your case), otherwise you'll be blowing or burning expensive oil out the pipe.
