Default Security system question, don't want to use it.

I purchase a used 03 Electra glide that has the securty with two Fobs. I really don't wish to use the system. I also don't know the previous owners personel security code or even mess with putting in my own personel code.

Question: I just want to use the bike's key to lock the bike and not use the security system and the fobs at all. Can I just leave the fobs in a drawer at home? Is there any way the bikes securtiy system could somehow arm itself and there I am stuck? Am I correct in thinking that the system will never arm itself unless I am the one that turns it on? I am not concerned about thieft....that is why I have insurance.

Your lucky... With an '03 you can do exactly like you stated in your question. Throw the FOB in a drawer and forget it.

With the newer bikes the FOB is automatic in arming and disarming the system, so that wouldn't work. At least on the earlier models, like yours, you have the choice to press the button or not.

I would program in a code and learn the manual overide though - just in case.
