There is nothing wrong with the years you are suggesting.

The 09 and up bigger tire wears faster and is more expensive to replace.

ABS is something you can live without; I would pitch this more strongly but I don’t feel like getting into it tonight.

The 6 speed has bearing issues.

I’d love to have my old 03 Road King back but the frame was bent when I was rear ended three years ago. Good luck with your search.

I have heard that alot of people were having bad heat issues and knocking noises from their 07's. Of course thats the first yr of the 96". I just throw caution to the wind when anything new comes out. Not proven to always have all the kinks worked out. Good luck on your search.

First year of the 96" was in '06.
The Dyna was the guinea pig.

2007 first year for the 96" not 2006

To the OP stay away from any pre-02 efi models.

I stand corrected.
The Dyna was the guinea pig for the 6sp. trans.

For some reason I was thinking the Dyna got both the 6sp. and 96" in '06.

I know a guy who has an 06 RK. He has over 100K on it. He said the only mechanical problem he's had was replacing the primary chain tensioner at 50K.
I liked the 88's myself. I had a couple of Dyna's with the 88 engine. Great bike's.

Buy what you want. Every year of every model seem to have an an issue with something. I have an 05 Standard and with a few cheap buys off of ebay it looks like a Street Glide at a glance. If i would swap out the front fender alot of people wouldn't know. And like some others have said, keep your eye on ebay for the low mileage garage queens, there are alot of deals to be had out there.

We traded our `05 Standard Softail for an `09 Electra Glide Standard;best move we ever made.

Do your homework when looking at used bikes;my buddy bought an `05 Ultra,76K on it,for $16K.We didnt pay $18k for our EGS.

A bunch of people around here have picked up great deals on rental ultras black and chrome, and all ultras 09 to 11 are identical bikes. once you go ultra, you'll never go back.
