What cams, what compression, what heads, what head gasket, what throttle body was used? What is your cranking pressure now? Your elevation? Dyno tuned or just a downloaded map and then dyno checked for horsepower? Those kits had at least 2 different versions and some guys did trade parts out from the kit and used different se parts at no charge if the dealer was agreeable to the swap. A 31 or 30 trans pulley should pep it up as well.

You will need to know what pistons were installed, not the compression ratio, the part #. 10.5 pistons for stock heads won't yield nearly that when 110+ heads are used. There are 10.5 pistons for 110+ heads, thats why you need to know what pistons(part #) were actually installed. What head gaskets were installed? The ones that came with the kit? What was the piston to deck height? What is the actual cranking pressure? You need to know all this. I upped my hp/tq about 15-20 without increasing displacement. I got my ccp up from 175 to 195( a cam change, no higher lift and an earlier intake valve close) and re-tuned. Voila. Most dealer will just slap the parts on from the kit. The kit on your bike should have had the proper pistons but the cams were 260's originally, so who knows what else has been changed. Was it tuned or did the dealer just install a downloaded Stage IV map, which won't be optimum by the way, and check the out put. What pushrods were used? The ones in the kit? Adjustables? Whose and which ones? I had SE non tapered adjustables and they hit the tubes. Were the lower rocker boxes ground for valve spring clearance? Mine weren't and the valve springs rubbed making noise. Sorry for hitting you with all this but you asked, yes you can optimize what you have and gain performance without increasing displacement.

I had this kit installed in my Fatboy a couple months ago and absolutely love it. It made my Fatboy into a beast. My initial Dyno numbers where 105 HP and 109 TQ. I wonder what the #'s would be now with it all broken in ?
Bike rides great and pulls hard. Plenty of low end TQ for me but I really love how the bike flys in the 3500 - 5000 range. I should of skipped my Stage 1 gone straight to the Stage IV.

I took my 06RG into Patriot Harley in Fairfax, VA in April 09 for a 103 stage V build. It included a stroker crank. 35K miles later the head gasket blew and in the rebuild process at an indy, he discovered that the crank had a .019" runout which did severe damage to the oil pump, cam surfaces, cylinders and piston skirts. Basically, the engine was chewed up by the glass like particles caused by the excessive runout of the crank. I called the service manager at Patriot just to let him know how far his build got me. He jumped on my case, claiming the problem was because I probably didn't do the right maintenance.

No problem. I Bought that kit in Dec and got 15% off on it but they didn't get the kit until April so I know how you feel. It was back ordered even back then. Worth the wait, you'll be very happy.
