Howdy all.

Just traded in my 2010 Road King for a 2013 Ultra Classic Limited 103. The prior owner looks to have done everything right. Not sure if I really need it Dyno'd or not.

At the dealer in 2013 he installed:
  • V&H Power Duals
  • Titan 450's
  • TTL Master Tune (still have the box and CD, but the dongle is missing)
  • Big Flow intake, but unsure of brand/model (Have not taken it apart yet)
There are no aftermarket cams installed.

Should I bother getting in put on a Dyno? Is there a need to re-tune it periodically? Or should the initial map they installed in 2013 be fine? I am not looking for more performance, but longevity is my main goal here. It runs very well but do have an occasional popping on decel.

Also considering going synthetic as well.

Glad to see you have been reading old threads. Welcome to the forum.

Do you know how to read spark plugs? If not, you can google it. If the plugs looks good, it runs good and the fuel mileage is good, you're probably not going to get any benefit from putting it on a dyno unless you change something. I'm not familiar with the TTS but if it requires a dongle and you don't have it, the tech wouldn't be able to change anything anyway. A lot of money to see pretty graphs and numbers that don't really man anything if it's running good already.

Oil is probably one of the most cussed and discussed topics. The search will give you days of reading. After that you will discover that any good 20W50 vtwin rated oil will work just fine. Synthetic or Dino. You choose what makes you happy.

Thank you for the info, looking hard and heavy at oil, going synthetic soon. Lucas is currently what I am looking at, but ran Mobil 1 for 58K in my 2010 RoadKing without any issues.

I have also seen folks putting heavier weight gear oil in the transmission hole. I was surprised at that.

Thanks again,
