Default Bikes pulling trailers

Guys, just want to get any input on pulling a trailer behind the bike. Is there any problems to beware of? I enjoy going to Bike Rally's. It just sucks having the wife follow me in the truck with the camping gear. I played with the idea of getting a toy hauler. This was just a thought. If at all possible my bike will never be trailered. It defeats the whole point of owning a bike. Does anyone have a trailer and a recommended vendor? Here are a couple sites I found. You may say put the tent and sleeping bag on the bike and go. I've been doing this but it sucks when it rains.

Let me know what you think. I would like to purchase one before the next rally.

I have considered a trailer also, curious to see the responses you get. This site has several vendors:

my buddy pulls a trailer with his 05 ultra, he has no problems at all. And I love the fact that he does because we can haul half our stuff in there to for those week or so trips

I haul a small trailer behind my 2000 FLHTPI. You will need to turn a little wider and allow more time to stop. I just have a old trailer I picked up used with no name so I cant reccommend any current ones out there for sale. O yea one more problem to be aware of, the wife can fill it very quickly. I only use mine a couple times a year, but when traveling there is no better way to go. We dont camp when traveling unless campin cabins count. Even when we stay at hotels we have a grill in the trailer and hit a local grocery store. I wont be without a trailer ever again!!

You might find this listing of vendors helpful.

Everybody I've talked to who pulls a trailer says it's no big deal, and if they're set up correctly you won't know it's back there. Of course, you still have to use common sense when turning and stopping.

I've decided that if/when I want to add a trailer I'm going to build one myself. There are some decent trailer frame kits available through Harbor Freight that would work great with one of those plastic cartop carriers bolted to it. Being a cheap SOB it's more important to me to have the extra room than it is to pull a trailer that looks like the back end of a corvette. I figure I can be on the road with the whole setup, including the hitch on the bike, for $300-$400.

Thanks for all the input. I guess I should have been alittle more detailed. I'm loooking at the campers. The camper keeps you up off the ground.

Personally, Bushtec offers the best. I like the hitch design and tonge coupler of the trailer. The trailer has independent suspension and larger wheel/tire combination.

It all depends on they type of trailer you want and what you are going to do with it. It also depends on what you want to spend.

I noticed from your links you were looking at popup campers. They are nice but are also kinda big.

You can build your own trailer for roughly under $500.00.(got a bro that did it and its a great little trailer.)

You start with This
mount a deck to it
then add one of these
add some paint
and Waaaaaaaa-la One Bike Trailer.

A member here has one similar to my brosLink to his photo album

Or you could go here and they sell everything from cargo to popup bike trailers.

Well, I have always enjoyed camping. In tents, then in a pop-up trailer, then a 27 foot travel trailer. When my wife started riding her own bike, we decided to get a toy hauler. It's OK. Nothing to be ashamed of. Your own bed, kitchen, bathroom, garage, and motorcycles. Your wife will love it. You'll stay dry. And if the event gets rained out, It's no big deal. I have a 28' Work and Play, but some companies (Fleetwood) make light, utility trailer based, pop-up campers.

We trailered to Laconia Bike Week this past summer and stayed in a beautiful mountain campground. ALL toy-haulers, ALL bikers, great crowd and we had a blast. Camping and riding bring out the best in people.

Thats what me and my buddy did, bought a frame shorten it. Put a cartop carrier on it, Installed wiring harness on bike and hitch. Tolal cost about 800.00, far cry from 3500 to 4000 custom made. The one we build, people acually asked us wear we bought it, it looks that good
