Post J&M 5.25 Speakers Install - 2011 RGC

I know there are a few of these threads... but already had the photos and figured I would share it here as well.

Speakers installed. I got a set of used 5.25 J&M speakers from a fellow forum member and ordered a new set of grills directly from J&M...

Out came the front fairing again... don't know how to remove the fairing? Here you go: Front fairing removal - 2011 RGC

Stock units

Disconnect wires

Use a phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws holdng the speaker

Use screwdriver with a torx T25 tip to remove the three bolts holding the grill assembly.

Unscrew the nut enough for the grill assembly to come out. No need to remove this nut completely.

Let's install the new grill, but first we need to detach the old grill cover from the assembly. It is just held in place by four tape strips. Gently lift and it will come apart.

Install the new grill. It should stick to the tape strips if those still have adhesive on them.

Put the grill assembly back, install the three torx screws again, tighten the flimsy nut... route the wires through the slot.

Install the speaker with slightly longer phillips screws (stock on the left, longer on the right).

And connect wires per instructions:

Admire your work, drink your favorite install fluid.

I do not have the sound absorbing mat. I will buy some and install it, just need to find some locally.

Let us know how they sound, with all the negative posts about J&M it might be nice to hear something nice about them.

I am not such a freak with sound on the bike... so anything slighty better than stock is fine for me. I will provide feedback once I put the mat and install everything back.

But to be honest, I just wanted a better looking speaker grill
