Changed fluids, aired tires, checked bolts, checked brake pads, Thursday, headed out for 38 states, First across to Maine, then south to include the tail of the dragon, then back north to PA, then SW AR, NW IL, then SW again to OK, TX, etc. Granted, some states are mere corner cutters. Be back home by August. If you are family or a friend, beware, I'm showing up on your doorstep.

The pluses include no lawn mowing for more than a month. Every other motel has a pool. Three bikes, 4 friends, my hunting buddy and our wives. Canada yes, but not Mexico. If we decide to ride home up the coast, then California will make 39. But after 6000 miles, we might just say screw the motorhomes going 20 under the speed limit.

The bike is set up perfect for me for long distance touring. I'm ready, the bike is ready and the wife, while this is not her thing, if I'm go, she's going and will be a great traveling partner. Half the trip is booked and the second half is freestyle. Much easier from The Mississippi West to freestyle.

Had the rear tire replaced along with rear brake pads. At least I got 12,000 miles out of the back tire. Could have gone another 1,000, but riding in the rain it seemed a little squirlly on the rear. Had the work done at Ted's Motorcycle World up from Alton, Illinois

I removed my cigarette lighter and replaced it with a USB charger. I think it will be much more useful...as I don’t smoke and I don’t know anyone that does.

Not today, but 48 hours ago...I traded in my 4 and a half year old 60k mile Road King and 2 other bikes that weren't being ridden for a low mileage '15 Road Glide that looks like it saw local light bar hopping only. No heavy road scarring and dents and dings like my King had. What's funnier is that the fellas in the back began to part it out immediately...I saw some of my things on the used parts table today, beat to hell, and with no price tags on them. They must be desperate to come up with a few quarters for the snack machine or something. I'd wager half of the parts end up directly in the trash by the end of the week after getting no offers. It's a completely different riding experience, just wish I had done it sooner.

I like that it raises the tank off the motor to help cooling and I like the look.

Installed Road 6 Customs Holey Roller 13" handlebars. Feels and looks WAY better than stock.

When I purchased my '19 SGS during Daytona Bike Week, I immediately had Suspension Technologies (who had their booth set up in the vendors area at Destination Daytona) install 11" rear shocks and their 1" shorter front suspension. The 11" rear shocks was installed with their standard springs. This was fine for me as I only weigh in at 155 lbs. After getting used to the bile for a while, it was time to start riding 2-up. Now my lady is a little heavier than I am, so with our combined weight, the shocks were bottoming out real bad, even after adjusting them to almost their stiffest setting.

Since ST is located in Clearwater Florida and we live in Ormond Beach, it is only a 3 1/2 hour ride to their shop. They invited us to ride over and they would re-spring the shocks with their stiffer rate springs. I could have shipped them back and they would have done the work and shipped them back to me, but for us it was easier to ride over and let them do the work.

Since we planned to stay over for two nights, we added about another 30-40 lbs of luggage and on the ride over the shocks would bottom out on every bump, dip and wallow. Quite an uncomfortable 184 mile trip.

When we arrived, Noah and Kenny at Suspension Technologies made us feel right at home while they removed the shocks, resprung them and then reinstalled them. We spent more time shooting the breeze than it took to do the remove and reinstall. A very nice company to do business with and absolutely great customer service plus they stand behind their products.

We did some riding and sight seeing yesterday and then made the trip back home this morning. What a difference the heavier rate springs made. Only bottomed out a few times on very hard bumps. Will probably need to increase the shock stiffness a little for future long highway rides 2-up with luggage. However, will keep them set as they are for local riding without any extra weight.

Got no pics because you cnn't see a change in spring rate.
