Default Gear Whine in a Road King 2011

Sorry to start another thread on gear whine while in 5th gear but I've searched as many threads as I could find but there is no mention of 2011 Touring models having the gear whine noise. My bike is a 2011 Road King and I only notice the whine when I let off the throttle in 5th. If I slighty give more throttle the noise goes away. The gear whine is pretty loud and actually sounds like an ambulance siren. The bike currently has 180 miles and has done this from the very begining. Anyone else experiencing the gear whine in 2011 models?

I would take it back to the Dealer. If he says it's normal, Take it to another Dealer and get a second opinion. In the meantime look it over yourself. Check to see if the belts too tight. I would ask him to take it in and change the fluid in the Tranny. I have a 2010 RK and it doesn't whine in 5th gear. Somethings not right!! Good Luck!

Too lazy to research the details right now, but I thought they changed the gear cut on the 2011 models to eliminate the whine. You may want to mention that to the dealer.

Not trying to bum you out but, I hope you didn't get leftovers from the parts bin. It would not surprise me with the troubles Harley - heck, the nation - are still facing.

I have the whine on my 2009 RK. Minor annoyance but no big deal. Would prefer to hear the motor instead of that whine, but it is what it is, and I still love the bike.

I must have got a double dose of the tainted Harley cool aid because I just developed the oil blow by in my air cleaner and that doesn't really bother me either.

I do not have that issue at 275 miles.
