Default RTV around Stator Plug to stop oil seeping

Those of you who have successfully managed to do the RTV seal around the stator plug to eliminate the oil seepage from that uttery stupid design, what type of RTV were you successful with. I tried the Permatex Ultra Black Hi Temp Super Oil Resistant and at first it seemed to hold. However after a 200 mile run I came home to find more weeping. The next day I pulled the silicone off, which came off rather easy, and did a more thorough job of getting a full 360 degree coverage and let it sit for a few days. I haven't ridden yet but hope that it will hold. The thing is I was somewhat disappointed when pulling the first try apart as it didn't really seem to be sticking to the case very well.

I used the Permatex Ultra Black maximum oil resistance RTV silicone gasket maker PX#82180. Applied it two years ago and still no leak. I did apply one coat, let it dry over night then applied another coat. Make sure you do a 360 degree seal. Best of luck.

It's in the prep. You need to really get it super clean. Try PJ1 Super Cleaner & spray on case & plug. Good Luck.

Well glad to hear the RTV I'm using has given you success. As I stated, I did a much better job this time around, put the bike on the lift removed the lower and floorboard so I could get better access. Hopefully that'll do the trick.

Used BrakeCleen. Even sprayed some on a Q-tip so I could clean the cavity on the inner side of the case.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Prep is everything, should have said that before. I forgot what I used to clean the area but it was cleaner than when I bought it. I also pulled the plug out a little to get the sealant in by the O rings.

Everyone has nailed it, area needs to be cleaned well and you shouldn't have an issue.
