Battery removal made siren sound on Ultra Classic
I was trying to remove my battery on my 2009 Ultra Classic, with security system. I made sure I had the FOB in my pocket when I did, but as I unhooked the neg lead from the battery, the siren went off, first a couple of blasts, then steady blah blah blah. So I reconnected the battery, didn't help, pulled the FOB out of my pocket, and waved it around, didn't help, so turned on the ignition, went off. Then back on again. So i said screw it, and pulled the connector from the siren and it went off. I had to get my ear plugs it was so loud, and right by my face.
What did I do wrong, I thought all you had to do was have the FOB nearby when disconnecting the battery?? |
pull the maxi fuse before battery disconect
|
FOB battery dead maybe?
Other than that, can't help much. My buds siren went off once...long story short, tow truck/van drove the bike all the way home with siren blasting. Mechanic cut the chord and the siren kept screamin...lol I guess they can be a beetch to kill sometimes! |
On my friends 09 CVO, I believe the owners manual said that the fob be present and ign in on position?

It is as pavin suggested, you have the ign on and the FOB present, then disconnect the battery. Turning the ign switch to on is what disarms the security system.

This is the winning answer. Turn ignition on to disable the security system, then pull the main fuse. :icon_tinykitball: |
Thanks
thanks to everyone, hope I never have to go thru that again.
