Default what about those Street Glide style mirrors?

Just traded my Road Glide for an Ultra Classic (that story forthcoming...), and I'm thinking about the fairing mounted mirrors like the Street Glide has as an alternative to the handlebar mounted mirrors that are stock.

What do you think? I read some posts both positive and negative about the fairing mounted mirrors. Some said that your hand and the controls block the view, others really liked the looks of them.

Are they functional? I really like the idea of cleaning up the handlebars, but I don't want to sacrifice function for looks.

I have an unrestricted view through mine, but I might be higher up than the average rider. They view through is excellent, no part of my shoulders or arms get in the way. I am about to pull mine though, switching bars soon, then my hands will def be in the way.

When I rode my friend's Street Glide I noticed the fairing mount mirrors offer less visibility than the bar mount type.

I replaced the factory mirrors with the fairing mirrors on my EGC and have absolutely no complaints. If they are placed correctly they work just fine. I wouldn't hesitate, and prefer the look.

They're ok if you don't change out your handlebars..

I did it on my Ultra Classic and I like the looks and function. The difference is I used Kuryakyn Blind Spot fairing mirrors. I started with SG Mirrors and couldn't see sh*t. so I replaced them by the Kury which extend further out. The other advantage is the Kury are chrome instead of plastic, and they have integrated LED turn signals. Oh and another big plus is that they're fully adjustable. You can tighten the swivel, something you can't do with the SG mirrors.

Here is what they look on my bike.

I have them on my current bike and also had them on the previous Ultra. They suit me and I can see through them just fine. I would put them on another Ultra.

Mine work fine and are unrestricted with the stock bars.
I think the reason they work for some and not others, may
be due to the riders size and stance.
What's your trade story? Don't hear of too many roadies
trading UP! Hehehe......
Gotta admit though - I am really getting to like that look.....

I was concerned on my original test ride but after proper adjustment they work great. I love the street glide mirrors
